GitLab webhooks

Pushes, merge requests, pipelines, issues, releases and deployments.

Events

  • Push Hook
  • Merge Request Hook
  • Pipeline Hook
  • Issue Hook
  • Deployment Hook

Signature

Header X-Gitlab-Token carries the secret token in plain text. Compare it with your stored value. X-Gitlab-Event names the event.

✓ A bin checks GitLab signatures: add the secret token under Signature verification (GitLab).

Retries

GitLab retries a failed delivery a few times with short gaps, then disables the hook after repeated failures.

See a retry schedule in the calculator.

Receive GitLab webhooks with webhooks.xyz

Create a bin. Paste its URL into GitLab. Each request shows at once with its headers and body. Add your server as a destination, and deliveries retry when it is down. Request an invite.
